The influence of porn is growing as people have 24/7 access and form fantasy relationships. Pornhub is just one example of leading the way in interactive porn and has had a number of actions taken against it. However, porn continues to expand and two of the fastest growing categories are webcam porn with subscriptions and amateur videos.

Senators Josh Hawley (Missouri), Ben Sasse (Nebraska), Maggie Hassan ( New Hampshire), Thom Tillis (North Carolina) and Joni Ernest (Iowa) introduced the "Survivors of Human Trafficking Fight back Act of 2020". This act is designed to broaden the route to justice for victims of trafficking and CSAM (child pornography). It also includes victims of other forms of image-based abuse and will enforce important protective measures for victims.

According to the article, the bill aims to give victims of sex trafficking and rape victims the right to seek compensation in federal court if pornography websites distribute intimate photos of them without their consent. This is sometimes referred to as revenge porn.

According to Hawley, sites like Pornhub routinely escape responsibility for facilitating abuse, trafficking and exploitation, making millions for themselves in the process."

As a result of an expose written by N.Y Times writer, Nicolas Kristoff the ability to use MasterCard and Visa have ended the relationship with Pornhub curtailing their broad range ability to subscribe to pornographic materials using the prominent credit card providers. However what the article does not say is that Pornhub can still use global credit card providers through third party processors.

Forty Jane Does, who say they were victims, sued Pornhub (and owner MindGeek) for at least $2 million each, alleging that Pornhub hosted videos despite knowing that "GirlsDoPorn" was a sex trafficking venture. The law suit alleges that MindGeek/GirlsDoPorn used force, fraud and coercion to traffic the victims until October 2019 when it was shut down by the Department of Justice. The lawsuit alleges that MindGeek refused to remove videos of the girls.

In January 2020, a California judge ordered GirlsDoPorn to pay nearly $13 million to 22 women who were tricked or coerced into shooting pornographic videos. The FBI is still searching for GirlsDoPorn creator, Michael Pratt who is facing criminal sex trafficking and child pornography charges.

According to a recent article in Arstechnica.com, Pornhub has faced increasing problems amid allegations that it hosted content featuring child sexual exploitation, non consensual violence, rape and other illegal material. Pornhub has responded by banning uploads from unidentified users and purging millions of user-uploaded videos. According to Business Insider, Pornhub has reduced their video inventory from 13.5 million to just 4.7 million in a short period of time.

Pornhub parent company, MindGeek, has been hit with a massive $600 million class action lawsuit accusing it of hosting child-porn videos on the website.

Pornhub is located in Canada.
